After many successful years in our previous partnership, the time has come to spread our wings and venture out further a field.
So, I am delighted to announce the launch of THE ABSOLUTE TEMPERATURE NETWORK, which is a new national network for chilled and frozen next day distribution for mainland UK and day one for day three into Ireland and Europe.
As you are aware David Price foods operates four depot’s in Wallsend (Newcastle), Darnley (Glasgow), South Kirkby (Doncaster) and Bristol, however we have established new partnerships with similar companies in Cardiff, Gillingham and Lurgan (Northern Ireland). We have already been restructuring this new network over the last 9 months for this launch and will be able to offer better service and particularly regional flexibility as well as offering improved distribution network to and from Europe.

David Price Food Services Ltd acquisition of Darnley Depot, Glasgow
David Price Food Services Ltd has been working closely with DHL for several months to secure the long term future of the Darnley site for group-age work into and out of Scotland.
The great news is that David Lyon and his team will transfer over to the David Price Food Services Ltd, which will make the changeover from DHL seamless, however, the main benefit is that we have managed to keep the local knowledge and understanding of the Scottish business via David and his team.
David Price Food Services Ltd will be able to offer customers the following facilities from the Darnley site:
Transport to UK / Ireland, offering Day 1 for Day 2 to majority parts of the UK once we have put all our plans into operation, which will greatly enhance the service from the collection point through to end-user
Chilled and frozen storage, which will include Blast freezing facility along with a picking operation.

July 2007 - Health & Saftey - Reversing Cameras
A Statement from Lee Johnston - Operation Manager
I first pursued the option of fitting the reversing cameras to the rigids some months ago. It got to the point where the amount of repairs to the back end of vehicles became unacceptable. I was regularly signing off invoices for rear light assemblies, light clusters and d-cut rubbers it got to the point where I said enough was enough. Everyone is aware of how tight some of the rigid drops were and it was time to come up with a solution to the problem.
When Mark Smith from Thermoking offered me a camera on trial I thought it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Mark then fitted one to one of our rigids for a 2 month trial and it proved very successful.
There was very positive feedback from our drivers as it became their '3rd eye' It gave them an excellent vision of tight loading bays and assisted them when parking. After extensive trials I decided to put a purchase request to the directors and invited them to see a demonstration, they were as equally impressed. My purchase request was passed and we are currently in the process of retro-fitting reversing cameras to 7 rigids. In future all new rigids will arrive with reversing cameras as standard fit.
June 2007 - Yorkshire Depot (update)
Yorkshires 1st Anniversary
The Yorkshire depot is now nearing it's 1st anniversary. It is now fully established as a part of the David Price Family and a major asset to the business.
The depot is running under its own steam, it seemed the right time to bring in a Depot Manager, we would like to welcome Peter Vaughn to the team, he has many years experience in the Haulage Industry and we believe he will be a major benefit to the company.
The Yorkshire Depot, based in South Kirkby Giving us unprecedented access to the central belt of the UK, is our link to two key areas Hull with it's abundance of top quality seafood suppliers and Yorkshire where we all know the best creameries reside.
2007 - Online Services Live
Online Booking Services now available
This recently introduced programme, which allows customers direct access to information related to their produce, is now being used by more than 30% of our customer base, this has been a great addition to the services we offer.
This service includes order input, printing pallet labels, job status and online POD viewing.

2006 - New Fleet Purchases - In Excess of 2million (2006/2007)
Further investment in the fleet
With the opening of our new Depot we are purchasing 4 additional Mercedes wagons and Krone trailers to expand our fleet to allow us to effectively cover our new territory.
Then in September, we will receive another 5 Mercedes wagons to replace our current stock that are being decommissioned.
Finally, in October, we will be receiving 1 Mercedes wagon, 3 Volvo wagons, 1 Krone trailer, 6 Schimtz trailers, 2 Mercedes Rigids, 1 Volvo Rigids and 2 Rigids from Solomons these are to replace some of our old stock as well as several additional units.
This gives us a total for the year of 13 new wagons, 11 new trailers and 6 Rigids for the year!

As part of our commitment to ChillNet, David Price Food Services has agreed to source a second location in South Yorkshire to be operational by July 1st 2006.
